Through the Lens of Healing

Welcome to Through the Lens of Healing – a space for looking a little more closely at the things we experience, the things we notice, and the things we simply feel.

I’ve always been interested in what lies beneath the surface. In relationships, that might be the subtle shift in someone’s tone, a fleeting expression, a pause, an inconsistency, or the feeling that what is being said doesn’t quite match what is being communicated. Often, there is more to a situation than what is immediately visible. And sometimes, understanding comes when we’re willing to look beyond the obvious.

My decades of work as a massage therapist have given me a unique opportunity to observe another kind of communication- the language of the body. The body can tell us things in its own way, through tension, breath, movement, holding and release. Over the years, that work has further developed and refined my natural tendency to observe, listen, connect dots, and wonder about the relationship between what we think, what se feel, what we experience, and what our bodies may be expressing.

That curiosity is really at the heart of Through the Lens of Healing.

The things I share here will come from many places: conversations and observations from my bodywork practice, relational dynamics I’ve experienced or witnessed, research that sends me down the rabbit hole, tools and techniques I’ve found helpful, books and spiritual teachings that have made me think, and the meaningful synchronicities that appear in everyday life.

Some posts will be practical. Some will be reflective. Some may challenge conventional thinking. And some may simply begin with something I’ve noticed or a question I can’t stop thinking about.

I often think of this as the quiet magic of life- the patterns, connections, and insights that emerge when we pay attention to more than what is directly in front of us.

I don’t expect everything I write to resonate with everyone. My perspective can sometimes fall outside conventional view, and that is okay. The intention isn’t to tell you what to think. It is to offer another way of looking at something- another lens- and allow you to decide what, if anythings feels meaningful to you.

Most of all, I hope this becomes a conversation rather than a monologue. If something resonates, reminds you of an experience, raises a question, or even creates a gentle disagreement, I invite you to share it. Our individual experiences have a way of illuminating things for one another.

Perhaps something you read here will help you recognize something you have been feeling but haven’t quite been able to name. Perhaps you will discover a tool that makes your body fell better. Or perhaps one small idea will simply cause you to stop and think:

I have not thought about it like that.

Sometimes, that is where change begins.

I’m glad you are here.

Let’s begin.

~Jenn
